He replaces Unai Emery on a two-year deal

Thomas Tuchel has been confirmed as the new Paris Saint-Germain manager on a two-year deal replacing current manager Unai Emery.

Tuchel, who has previously managed Augsburg II and Mainz, replaced Jurgen Klopp as manager of Borussia Dortmund in 2015, but stayed just two years at the Westfalenstadion amid mass player departures and inconsistent form.

He has been out of football since leaving Dortmund and had been heavily linked with the Arsenal job prior to taking the reigns at the Parc des Princes.

His predecessor Unai Emery joined the Parisian club in 2016, replacing former coach Laurent Blanc with the intention of finally securing Champions League success for the nouveau riche Ligue 1 side.

He was however unable to emulate the European success he experienced at Sevilla with PSG, with a crippling defeat against Barcelona in the Champions League last season leaving his position perilous.

Tuchel takes over a side rich on talent and extremely dominant domestically, but one which has struggled to overcome the dominance of European heavyweights like Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Barcelona in the Champions League.

One situation he will be forced to address quickly is that involving star forward Neymar, who despite moving to PSG from Barcelona last summer has been continually linked with a move away from the club.
