Thomas Tuchel agrees to become next England manager

The German is the chosen one

The former Chelsea and Bayern Munich manager was currently without a club and, despite being linked with Manchester United, has now taken the England job.

The 51-year-old left Bayern at the end of last season being replaced with Belgian Vincent Kompany.

England were looking for a successor for Gareth Southgate who led England to two Euro finals.

Lee Carsley has been interim manager in the meantime, but the FA seem to have settled on a more experienced permanent choice.

Terms have been agreed with a contract set to be signed and an official statement expected soon.

In signing on with England, Tuchel will become the first German to ever manage the England national team.

He becomes just the third foreign manager ever to take charge of the England men's team, following in the footsteps of Sven-Goran Eriksson and Fabio Capello.
