The UFC president is adamant that McGregor will play no part in July's showcase event, but the featherweight champion's coach thinks there's still a chance.
"I don't think we've gone past any point of no return," Kavanagh told Ariel Helwani on the MMA Hour on Monday.
"There's mutual respect from both parties and Dana and Lorenzo are sensible business men. I have no doubt we'll continue the tradition and after his next fight, Lorenzo will bring out the bottle of Middleton and we'll do our usual toast."
The SBG coach then went on to say that he was "51% optimistic" that something could be sorted out to ensure McGregor fights on July 9, and he admitted that the Irishman already has his sights set on another huge fight in November.Explore more on these topics:
