There’s some positive news for Manchester United fans about Romelu Lukaku’s fitness

The Belgian striker has recently been struggling with an ankle injury.

With a clash against Liverpool at the weekend, Manchester United fans will be hoping that Romelu Lukaku will be fully fit to lead the line at Anfield. Since arriving from Everton in the summer, the Belgian has been a revelation.

The £75 million striker has scored 11 goals in all competitions – 7 in the Premier League – but his fitness over the international break has been a concern for Jose Mourinho.

Lukaku missed Belgium’s World Cup qualifier against Bosnia and Herzegovina with a niggling ankle injury, but the striker came on as a 66th minute substitute in their match against Cyprus and scored in their 4-0 win on Tuesday.

Speaking after the game, Spurs defender Vertonghen was speaking about Lukaku’s fitness. “I am sure he will be fine for Manchester United at the weekend.  He used the first week with us to get fit. He was injured, I spoke to him and his ankle wasn’t in good shape. But he has used the time well to recover and he is back and fit again,” he said.

If United can get a positive result at Anfield in Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off, they’ll move to the top of the table.
