There was only one name on fans’ lips when Claudio Bravo’s error gave Manchester United a lifeline

Sure, Claudio Bravo can play with his feet but can he catch a ball?

Based on Saturday afternoon’s evidence, Manchester City’s new goalkeeper is not the most confident when claiming crosses into the box which is kind of a big part of a ‘keeper’s game.

After 42 minutes of City domination, Bravo floundered when he came off his line in an attempt to relieve the pressure on his defenders by claiming a free kick into his gloves.

It looked an easy catch.

A really easy catch.

But he clattered into defender John Stones, dropped the ball and Zlatan Ibrahimovic duly got Manchester United right back into the derby with a clinical finish.

Following the axing of fan favourite Joe Hart, who was deemed surplus to requirements by Pep Guardiola in the summer, supporters couldn’t help but wonder if the England number one would have composedly taken the ball into his grasp.

Either way, Hart will almost certainly be keeping an eye out for the score. There’s no doubt he’ll be hoping Bravo and Manchester City finish the game as winners, but you can’t help but think the 29-year-old might have a little chuckle if his replacement makes many more mistakes in the game.
