The one with the never-ending Schneiderlin transfer…

Nooruddean Choudry

Manchester United’s pursuit of Morgan Schneiderlin has become the will-they-won’t-they saga of the summer.

Last time on U•N•I•T•E•D, it seemed like a match made in heaven. Louis van Gaal was in need of a long-term replacement for Michael Carrick, and lovable midfielder-next-door Morgan was the perfect fit.

Despite the advances of hunky Arsene Wenger, it looked certain that Ed Woodward had won Morgan’s heart (and signature). But that’s when things got complicated…

Ed failed to seize the moment (classic Ed!) and suddenly Morgan’s destiny was far from certain. Days turned into weeks and a deal looked off (and then on and then off again).

Things weren’t helped when Ed flirted with the idea of signing Bayern Munich’s Bastian Schweinsteiger instead – insisting negotiations with Southampton were ‘on a break’.

You join us with the South Coast club embarking on a tour of Australia. With Ed off to the US on Monday, it’s a race against time to stop Morgan getting on that plane…
