Footballers are very talented

Professional athletes train for hours, and hours, and hours to master their craft. For the elite, their excellence turns them into celebrities, and consequently makes them very useful tools for brands to market products. On these shores, footballers have been advertising products for as long as advertising has been a thing - Stanley Matthews advertised Craven A cigarettes back in the 1950s. A lot has changed since then. But one thing that will never change is the fact that footballers are very bad actors. And you can't blame them, acting is not their job. But it's almost impossible not to laugh at Wayne Rooney taking orders from Jeff Goldblum as he flies a fighter jet in an advert for Independence Day: Resurgence.
