The Premier League season is only a few weeks old but the statisticians are already hard at work.

Opta have released the list of the 10 highest speeds reached by Premier League players so far this season and some names might surprise you.

Manchester City’s new right back, Kyle Walker, has claimed first place with a pretty remarkable top speed of 35.16 km per hour according to a summary of the results in the Mirror.

Fellow full back, Kiko Femenia, is not that far behind, with the Watford man accomplishing a top speed of 35.12 km per hour already in this campaign.

Third place on the list is somewhat unexpected as Arsenal’s centre-half, Laurent Koscielny, has come in faster than any of the league’s pacy attacking talent, with a top speed of 35.11 km per hour.

Below is the full list, which makes for very interesting reading.
