Sunderland have gone with an unexpected colour for their new third kit

Now that their noisy neighbours aren't in the Premier League to mock them, Sunderland have decided to get a bit more adventurous with their kits.

Well, maybe not Allardyce, who got most of his celebrating out of the way at the tail end of the 2015/16 season. "Black Cats take new direction ahead of 2016-17 season!" a Sunderland statement reads. The new third jersey bears club sponsor dafabet on the torso and has a striking design of alternating pink and purple strikes, with a bright cerise shade on the sleeves. It will be topped off by purple shorts and socks with pink adidas stripes. After seeing some adventurous kits from Swansea City and Everton, it remains to be seen how Sunderland's new effort will be received come August. It's got to be better than whatever this is, though. You've got to give them that at least.
