Sunderland fans fall over advertising board celebrating goal against Bristol City

You've got to respect the dedication to the celebration

Sunderland supporters toppled over the advertising boards at Ashton Gate Stadium as they celebrated The Black Cats' equaliser on Saturday. Everton loanee Ellis Simms grabbed the opener for the away side after just four minutes, but just six minutes later, Andreas Weimann levelled for City.  Former Derby County man Chris Martin put Bristol ahead six minutes after the half-time break, but Simms levelled soon after. Both sides looked as though they could go on to win the match, but it was Sunderland that secured the victory as Ross Stewart scored the winner for Alex Neil's men.

When Simms levelled proceedings in the 53rd minute, the Sunderland supporters went wild. Having drawn 1-1 with Coventry City on the opening day of the season, the win against City was Sunderland's first in the second tier since a 3-0 win over champions Wolverhampton Wanderers on the final day of the 2017-18 season.

They face off against League One club Sheffield Wednesday in the EFL on Wednesday August 10 in their next match. Related links:
