Sheffield United’s season has gone from bad to worse after ‘a number’ of new coronavirus tests have come back positive.
The club issued a statement ahead of their game against Burnley on Tuesday evening, which will go ahead as planned. The Blades issued a statement on the club website but did not reveal who has been affected by the virus.
Sheffield United can confirm the club recorded a number of positive coronavirus tests after the latest round of testing.
The individuals who have tested positive have now entered into a period of self-isolation in accordance with Premier League and Government guidelines.

“Sheffield United can confirm the club recorded a number of positive coronavirus tests after the latest round of testing,” the statement read.
“Due to medical confidentiality the club will not be revealing the names of those who have been affected.
“The individuals who have tested positive have now entered into a period of self-isolation in accordance with Premier League and Government guidelines.
“Earlier today, the Premier League confirmed 18 positive coronavirus tests – the highest figure of the season so far.
“Everyone at Sheffield United would like to extend our best wishes to our colleagues and wish them a speedy recovery.”
The new positive cases at Sheffield United are not included in the 18 earlier announced by the Premier League.
This news comes the day after the UK recorded its highest ever daily increase in COVID cases on Monday: 41,385 new Covid cases and 357 deaths.
