Sevilla’s coach is full of praise for Liverpool’s under-fire defender Alberto Moreno

Alberto Moreno became the pantomime villain in the wake of Liverpool's Europa League final defeat by Sevilla on Wednesday. The Spanish left-back was badly at fault for Sevilla's equaliser shortly after half-time. To make matters Moreno, who joined Liverpool from Sevilla in 2014, was seen high-fiving and hugging his former teammates on the pitch moments before the second-half started. After the game there was the obligatory update to his Wikipedia page. There was criticism (since deleted) from Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher who should probably know better given that he once scored an own goal in a FA Cup final. But, and perhaps this is the least surprising development of all, support has come in for the under-fire defender from Unai Emery, whose Sevilla side were the beneficiaries of the full-back's hapless defending. "I always see the glass half-full because he has a great offensive ability and I see him as a great offensive player rather than being a poor defender," Emery said after the game.

"Alberto Moreno is playing a great season for Liverpool. "And what I have seen is he is playing at a level that he can go back to the Spanish national team."
