Tottenham are in talks with Manchester City over a double deal for forwards Savinho and Omar Marmoush, with negotiations between the clubs progressing but no agreement yet reached.
The move, revealed on Thursday morning, would hand Roberto De Zerbi the attacking reinforcements he has spent the summer transfer window asking for, two days before Spurs open their Premier League campaign at Brentford.
Spurs’ interest in Savinho dates back to 2025, when the Brazilian winger chose to stay with City.
The 22-year-old, a £30m signing from Ligue 1's Troyes in 2024, made just seven Premier League starts last season and is now minded to leave.
Marmoush, who cost £59m from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2025, fell out of favour under Pep Guardiola in 2025-26.
However, the Egyptian player managed eight goals in 36 appearances in all competitions, showing a better fit into the system than his Brazilian counterpart.
City’s valuation of the pair is unclear at the moment, but you can expect city to bank on a significant profit for its forwards, as BBC Sport revealed.
BBC Sport’s senior football correspondent Sami Mokbel reports that sources have confirmed talks are advancing, without an agreement being struck.
Bringing in Mateus Fernandes from West Ham and Sandro Tonali from Newcastle for a combined £185m, De Zerbi has already spent heavily in midfield.
Tottenham are now looking out to a forward to bring them out of a bottom of the table spot for the upcoming season, as the club finished 17th last edition.
Spurs also remain interested in Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo, although it is unclear whether they could fund that deal alongside moves for both City players.
Bringing a forward at this time of the transfer market could prove difficult, as many deals are being closed in a scramble for the best valued players.
Tottenham scored 48 goals out of the 38 games last season, a benchmark they intend to surpass this time around.
City, who have already sold Rodri, Tijjani Reijnders and goalkeeper James Trafford this summer, host Bournemouth on Sunday at 14:00 BST, while Tottenham are at Brentford on Saturday at 17:30 BST.
