Atletico Madrid - Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid - simply don't concede four goals... ever
Undoubtedly one of the best-performing clubs in European competition over the last five years, Atletico's playing style has been built on the foundations of a solid defence which rarely concedes more than a single goal in a game. With this in mind, what happened to the Europa League winners in Dortmund on Wednesday night was something of a big a deal.
A resurgent Dortmund hammered Atleti 4-0 in Westfalenstadion, the Bundesliga leaders tightening their grip on their Champions League group.
Dortmund had won their two previous European games this season - against Monaco and Club Brugge - prior to kick-off against the Spanish side and took the lead courtesy of a deflected Axel Witsel shot late in the first-half. Their lead was doubled with little over fifteen minutes left to play through Raphael Guerrerio. He would add his second a minute from time, but only after Jadon Sancho had scored his first Champions League goal to put Dortmund three up.
The former Manchester City youngster, who made his senior England debut against Croatia earlier this month, had started the game on the bench but was in the right place to tuck home a simple goal to put his club out of sight with eight minutes still to play.

Dortmund play Atleti in Madrid in two weeks, knowing that a point should be enough to secure a berth in the knock-out stages.
