Ryan Giggs takes up consultancy role at football academy in Vietnam

Football management will have to wait for now

Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has got himself a new job.

Nope, it’s not a management gig just yet. That one seems to be on the back burner for now.

Instead, it’s emerged that he’ll be taking up a consultancy role at a football academy in Vietnam, starting later this month.

The role at the Promotion Fund of Vietnamese Football Talents FC is far from full-time, only requiring him to visit the academy for a few days at a time twice in a year. One of those visits will be for its opening this weekend.

‘They’ve just built a brand new academy so I’m going out with Scholesy for three days of consultancy, with the potential for to link up with Salford in the future,’ he explained in his Super 6 Class of 92Diary

‘We’re building our academy and university so these links across the world will help. It is supposed to be an amazing facility.’

Giggs’ name was again mentioned in relation to the vacant managerial positions at Everton and Leicester.  Prior to that, he had worked as assistant to Louis van Gaal after briefly taking charge of United on a temporary basis following the dismissal of David Moyes in 2014. He left United when Jose Mourinho arrived in the summer of 2016, ending over two decades of association with the club.
