Ronaldo scored 450 goals for Real Madrid

Real Madrid are reportedly ‘increasingly keen’ on re-signing Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer, with reports suggesting Los Blancos know he ‘guarantees goals’.

The Portuguese captain returned to Manchester United last summer and has enjoyed an impressive individual campaign, scoring 23 goals in all competitions.

However, the 37-year-old has been unable to steer the Red Devils to any trophies this campaign, despite scoring a number of important goals in the Premier League and Champions League.

Ralf Rangnick’s side look unlikely to finish in the top four, with United currently languishing in sixth place in the table.

Ronaldo’s future is uncertain

Incoming manager Erik ten Hag could be without Champions League football in his first season at Old Trafford, and, as reported by the Mirror, Ronaldo could also be set to leave the club in the summer.

The report suggests that Spanish giants Madrid – who secured their 35th LaLiga title on Saturday – are considering a move for their former player, knowing that Ronaldo guaranteed goals in the Spanish top-flight.

He scored 450 goals in 438 appearances during his time at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Ronaldo signed a two-year deal at Old Trafford, but it is thought that the former Juventus man’s future is now uncertain in England.

Would Ronaldo feature under Ten Hag?

Given that Ten Hag is said to be planning a huge overhaul of the United squad, and the Dutchman’s plan is to move towards a future built on ‘high energy and youth’, Ronaldo will not be guaranteed to play every game for the Red Devils.

Asked whether the five-time Ballon d’Or winner would be still at Old Trafford next season, interim manager Rangnick replied: “We will have to speak about it between us; with Erik [ten Hag], myself and the board.

“Cristiano has another year of contract and it’s also important to see and find out what Cristiano wants to do and see if he wants to stay.

“I haven’t been able to speak with Erik so far and it doesn’t make sense to speak about it [Ronaldo’ future] right now.”

The 37-year-old grabbed his 100th Premier League goal in the Red Devils’ 1-1 draw with Chelsea last Thursday.
