Lukaku sent his support to Eriksen after opening the scoring against Russia

Romelu Lukaku marked his first goal of Euro 2020 by sending a message of support to his Inter Milan teammate Christian Eriksen, who collapsed earlier on Saturday.

Eriksen stumbled to the ground shortly before half-time in Denmark’s Group B game with Finland, receiving emergency medical treatment on the pitch for a number of minutes before being taken to hospital.

The game was eventually restarted after a statement from UEFA confirmed the 29-year-old had been stabilised and was undergoing further assessment.

Belgium kicked off their tournament against Russia in St Petersburg, with Lukaku making the most of a defensive mix-up to give the Red Devils an early lead. Having tucked the ball away, the former Manchester United striker made his way to a touchline camera.

“Chris, Chris… I love you,” Lukaku can be heard saying.

An official statement from the Danish FA confirmed Eriksen was awake and stable shortly before their game with Finland restarted.

Finland went on to win the game in Copenhagen, with Joel Pohjanpalo scoring the only goal of the game.
