Romelu Lukaku posts not so cryptic Snapchat story amid Chelsea struggles

Lukaku posted a Snapchat story that many will interpret as a resignation to the fact that his second spell as a Chelsea player is simply not working

Who the fuck still uses Snapchat?

Romelu Lukaku has posted a Snapchat story that will only fuel the fire around his difficult first season back at Chelsea.

The striker returned to Stamford Bridge from Inter Milan last summer for a fee in the region of £100m, but has not yet justified his hefty price tag, scoring just eight goals in all competitions for the Blues thus far.

An interview given to Sky Italia in December did little to help the situation, after he gushed about his former club Inter, and admitted that he wasn’t ‘happy with the situation’ at Chelsea.

He also hinted at a preference for the tactical system at Inter, which afforded him more freedom to roam wide, compared to Thomas Tuchel’s formation.

The Belgian was briefly dropped before apologising to Tuchel and returning to the first team set-up, but his form remains disappointing, with no goals in the Premier League since December 29th.

And on Friday morning, the player posted a not so cryptic Snapchat story, apparently addressing these concerns.

With white text on a black background, he wrote: “If you have to force it then it probably doesn’t fit.”

Now, this could just be a pseudo-profound quote he found on an Instagram page dedicated to inspirational quotes, but it seems more likely that he is venting his frustration about his situation at Chelsea.

Why he’s still using Snapchat remains to be seen.

It’s not going to rock the world in the same way that his Sky interview did a couple of months back, but it does indicate a lack of progress being made with regard to him adjusting to his team (and old) team.

Chelsea play in the Club World Cup final on Saturday afternoon against Copa Libertadores holders Palmeiras.
