Romelu Lukaku’s goals earned two punters a £325,000 jackpot against Sunderland

Quids in

Saying he’s considered Everton’s main goal threat, Romelu Lukaku had gone over six months without finding the back of the net for his club.

But at the Stadium of Light on Monday night, the Belgian ended his wait in spectacular fashion, exploding into life with an eleven minute hat-trick – enough to hand Ronald Koeman’s men a comfortable 3-0 victory against Sunderland.

Lukaku’s return to goal-scoring form will have delighted Evertonians up and down the land, but the the fact he managed to score the first of his trio on Wearside also meant that a couple of punters are well and truly quids in.

Any punters that correctly identified eight Premier League any-time scorers this weekend were promised a share of Paddy Power’s Hotshot Jackpot, which stood at £325,000.

Heading in to the final match of the Premier League’s fourth round of fixtures, the pair had already predicted that the likes of Callum Wilson, Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Christian Benteke, Santi Cazorla, Jamie Vardy, Roberto Firmino and Diego Costa would find the net over the weekend.

Both men needed Lukaku to score against Sunderland to seal a share of the jackpot – a whopping £162,500 each.

And when he nodded Everton in front on the hour mark- bringing to an end 1,139 minutes without a goal for his club – the bet was won.
