Impressive work for the third season syndrome to kick in after three months

The agent of AS Roma player Amadou Diawara has called out Jose Mourinho after banishing the midfielder from his match day squad.

According to the Daily Mail, the 24-year-old – along with three others – have been shunned from the Roma first-team setup after the Italian side suffered an embarrassing 6-1 defeat to Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt in the UEFA Conference League last week.

As a result, in classic Mourinho fashion, the fiery boss has already had enough and is making big changes at the Stadio Olimpico.

Following the loss last week, the former Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur boss slammed his squad, claiming that “he only has 13 players” who are up to standard.

Since then, four players have been cut in a bid to improve the situation. Diawara is joined by Borja Mayoral, Gonzalo Villar and Bryan Reynolds with all four failing to feature in the squad for the game against Napoli last weekend and aren’t included for the trip to Cagliari on Wednesday night.

Diawara’s agent Daniele Piraino spoke to Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb and admitted that he couldn’t understand Mourinho’s actions.

He said: “I don’t understand the message he’s trying to get across.

“Is Diawara being made a scapegoat? Is he being made to pay a heavy price for an error? Or is an attempt to force the club into acting in the transfer market?

“If it is for these reasons, rather than just poor fitness, or he feels the player is unable to understand the tactical requirements of the coach, then I think Mourinho is creating an uncomfortable situation.

“It is inexplicable but Diawara will adapt. Amadou is an exceptional professional.”

The 24-year-old hasn’t been a regular fixture in the side anyway, playing just seven minutes in the Serie A and two European fixtures and had been linked with a move away during the summer.
