Robert Lewandowski in big trouble with police in Poland

Pole behind bars?

It seems a week rarely goes by where Bayern Munich players aren’t pictured in some kind of beer-related activity.

When they win a trophy, they shower each other in the stuff. They pose for pre-season photographs with beer glasses in their hands. They even go on team nights out to Munich’s legendary Oktoberfest.

Having guided his country to next summer’s European Chanpionships, Bayern man Robert Lewandowski clearly thought an alcoholic drink was the normal way to toast success.

Amid scenes of celebration, the Pole thought nothing of having a swig of celebratory champagne.

But while such an act wouldn’t have been frowned upon in Germany, over the border in Poland drinking alcohol in a public place is illegal.

Now, according to the Sun, Radio Poland are reporting that the police are now investigating the matter.

Thankfully, Lewandowski has a very sympathetic international teammate in Grzegorz Krychowiak, who said something along the lines of ‘Thank God I didn’t drink the champagne or I’ll be in serious trouble’, followed by a string of laughing emoji.
