Report: Schweinsteiger signs for Manchester United

Reports in Germany on Friday night claimed that Bastian Schweinsteiger has agreed to sign for Manchester United.

German tabloid Bild announced the 'Transfer of the Summer' and claimed as fact that the Bayern Munich legend had decided to cut ties with the Bavarian club and move to Old Trafford. The fee is reported to be in the region of €20m, with Schweinsteiger penning a three-year deal.

Louis van Gaal was integral to the German international's development from extremely talented but erratic winger to commanding and consistently world-class midfielder. If the story is true, the deal is a major coup for United. They will have finally replaced Roy Keane with a warrior and leader in the centre of the park.
