Report: Manchester United identify Samir Handanovic as David de Gea’s replacement

There are growing reports in Italy that Manchester United want to make Inter Milan’s Samir Handanović their new number one…

According to Sky Italia and respected journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, the Slovenian keeper has delayed ongoing talks to extend his stay at the San Siro due to United’s interest.

Handanović is in a similar situation to that of De Gea, in that he is in the final year of his current deal, and could leave for free at the end of next season.

Despite his 6ft 4in frame, the Inter man is famed for his impressive agility and lightning reflexes, and at 30-years-old he still has many years of custodianship before him.
