Let it go lads

Real Madrid fans may be preparing to watch their side face Liverpool in the Champions League final on Saturday, but it hasn’t stopped a few of them from continuing to lose their heads over Kylian Mbappe’s decision to stay at Paris Saint-Germain.

Madrid and their supporters have been left fuming after the Frenchman turned down their approach to sign a new bumper three-year deal at PSG, putting an end to months of speculation.

The Spanish club were left so angered by what had happened that them and La Liga both issued statements threatening to report them to the authorities – including the European Union.

Madrid fans are not letting Mbappe forget

Fans of the La Liga club are in Mbappe’s home city of Paris as they bid to end Liverpool’s hopes of winning a treble this season and secure their 14th European title and wanted to let the 23-year-old know just what they thought of him.

A post on Twitter shared two Madrid fans holding up a PSG shirt with Mbappe’s name on the back but instead of his trademark number seven the back, the shirt had a couple of tweaks.

Underneath his name was the number zero and below that writing which read ‘Champions League,’ referring to his lack of continental silverware achieved with the French giants.

Another fan meanwhile was seen holding up a sign saying ‘Mbappe you will regret’. At least they don’t seem to be too upset about the forward’s decision to remain in France.

Not the only banner to catch the eye in the run-up to kick-off, either…

PSG were one of the sides that Madrid beat on their route to the final, coming from behind after defeat in the first leg in emphatic style before also beating Chelsea and Manchester City.

Liverpool meanwhile beat Inter Milan, Benfica, and Villarreal to be within one game of winning a treble.
