Real Madrid may be about to move for Robert Lewandowski

Tom Victor

We didn’t think Real Madrid’s front-line needed strengthening, but who are we to judge?

The Spaniards are reportedly in the market for a new striker, with Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski said to be their main target.

The Polish international has scored 25 goals for club and country this season in just 22 games, including a remarkable five in nine minutes against Wolfsburg.

His potential arrival in the Spanish capital will only add fuel to the rumours that Cristiano Ronaldo is set to move on in the summer.

Ronaldo has been with Madrid since 2009, but is thought to be the target of a big-money move from Chelsea.

With Karim Benzema’s future in doubt in the light of the Mathieu Valbuena sex-tape case, the arrival of Lewandowski – as well as the inclusion of long-term target Eden Hazard in any deal for Ronaldo – would seem to make some sense.

Whether Bayern will sell him is a different matter, though.
