Florentino is loosening the purse strings
Real Madrid have submitted a second bid of €170 million for Kylian Mbappé after their opening offer was knocked back by Paris Saint-Germain.
Mbappé has just one year remaining on his contract with the French club and is keen to realise his life long dream of playing for Madrid, despite Lionel Messi joining PSG this summer.
PSG sporting director Leonardo said on Wednesday that the club would not “hold back” Mbappé if their “conditions were met”, suggesting they would rather cash in now than keep hold of him for another year and lose him for free in 2022.

Over the past year, Real Madrid have been pouring every spare cent into an ‘Mbappé’ fund, with club president Florentino Perez obsessed with bringing the 22-year-old to the Bernabeu to reinstate the club’s dominance on European football.
In order to raise this money, they have let go of their defensive partnership in Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane, who joined PSG and Manchester United respectively, and also loaned out Gareth Bale last season to save money on his extortionate wages.
€170m is closer to PSG’s valuation of their star striker, but with a few days left in the transfer window, it is possible that the Parisians will look to squeeze a few extra million out of Perez.
