Raygun is ranked as the number one breaker in the world despite scoring zero in the Olympics.
Breaking made its Olympic debut at this year’s Paris 2024 Olympics.
Australia’s Dr Rachel Gunn, aka Raygun, went viral for all the wrong reasons after her performance at the Paris 2024 Olympics was slammed online as ‘hilariously ridiculous’.
The 36-year-old’s routine saw her slither around on the stage like a snake and hop about like a kangaroo and though some praised her creativity, the judges weren’t impressed and she scored zero points.
The online backlash to her routine led to Gunn being offered mental health support by the World DanceSport Federation.
She defended herself at the time, insisting she was Australia’s best breaker and now it would appear that others in sport agree as she is now ranked number one in the world.
The World DanceSport Federation’s World Ranking lists Raygun as the number one B-Girl.
The Australian dancer obtained 1,000 points when she won the WDSF Oceania Championship held in 2023 in Sydney, Australia which helped her ranking.
This also led to her qualification for this year’s Paris Olympics.
Meanwhile, Japan’s B-Girl Riko placed second with Stefani from Ukraine in third.
There were two other Australians in the top five of the world rankings as Holy Molly ranked fourth and Hannah rounding out the top five.
The 2024 Olympic medallists Japan’s Ami, Lithuania’s Dominika Banevic and China’s Liu Qingyi didn’t feature on DanceSport Federation's World Ranking list.
Since her newfound fame, Raygun has been tipped for several TV opportunities.
Shortly after the conclusion of the Olympics, she was widely tipped to feature on the next season of Dancing With The Stars.
Meanwhile, the odds of her appearing on I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here were 4/1 according to oddsmakers Crypto Sports Betting.
It is unlikely she will feature at the next Olympics given that Breaking will not be an Olympic sport in LA 2028.
