Raphinha fuming ball

Did she not know that Leeds were losing?

Leeds United winger Raphinha was left annoyed after a Whites fan refused to return the ball to Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso, despite their side losing in the important fixture.

Jesse Marsch’s side were comfortably beaten 3-0 by Chelsea on Wednesday night, and still find themselves in the relegation zone having played a game more than both Burnley and Everton.

Thomas Tuchel’s side took the lead early on in the tie through Mason Mount, before Dan James was sent off for a shocking tackle on Mateo Kovacic. Christian Pulisic doubled Chelsea’s lead and the Blues secured the victory through Romelu Lukaku.

It was a terrible night at Elland Road, but it appears that some supporters were still able to enjoy their evening – with one fan refusing to return the ball to Chelsea defender Alonso in the second half.

A video posted on social media shows one fan holding onto the ball while other spectators around her began to laugh.

The woman holding the ball can be heard claiming that ‘it is our ball’, with a number of other supporters around her seemingly gesturing for her to give it to a young boy a few rows in front.

The person recording the video then zooms in on Alonso, who was able to see the funny side of the episode with the Blues cruising through the tie.

Raphinha quickly on the scene

However, Leeds winger Raphinha was not impressed and came running over to the fans to demand that the ball was given back quickly.

The Brazilian’s presence clearly spooked the fan who returned the ball and allowed the game to restart.

Leeds’ underwhelming campaign

The Yorkshire club have seen their place in the Premier League come under increasing pressure in recent weeks, with Leeds dropping below Everton and Burnley in the table after two successive defeats.

Both Luke Ayling, who was sent off against Arsenal at the weekend, and James will miss the rest of the season through suspension, while a number of first-team players are still out injured.

Leeds welcome Brighton to Elland Road on Sunday hoping to secure a vital victory before their trip to Brentford on the final day of the season.
