Rangers player deletes ill-advised throwback tweet to Celtic’s 5-1 Old Firm win

Rangers fans did not like this.

Do you remember Celtic's 5-1 victory over Rangers in the Scottish Premiership back in September? Josh Windass does. It was the first league game between the Glasgow giants since 2012, Moussa Dembele scored a hat-trick and Joey Barton had a shocker in what would be his last game for Rangers. https://twitter.com/SportsJOE_UK/status/787308300480221185 It was the day that confirmed Celtic are a significantly better team that Rangers. Rangers fans would rather forget that day, while Celtic fans will never forget it. Either will Rangers midfielder Windass, who took the opportunity on Thursday to post a throwback tweet and Instagram post to mark what was his first appearance for the club.
"My first ever game for Rangers. Yes we lost but that's why I posted. Proudest day of my career. That was the reason for the throwback," the 23-year-old wrote.
Windass is right to be proud about making his debut for the club in such a big game. However, given they were hammered by their bitter rivals, Rangers fans weren't as keen to reminisce about that day as the midfielder, who is the son of former Hull City striker Dean Windass. https://twitter.com/londonbluenose/status/840119650272780288 https://twitter.com/_Crossy72/status/839922374250225664 https://twitter.com/Kirsten93_/status/839932165563510784 https://twitter.com/fwasercwamb/status/839944423941210112 Windass has since deleted both posts, which probably isn't a bad idea given Celtic and Rangers are playing again in the league on Sunday. Brendan Rodgers' side are currently 33 points ahead of Rangers. Seriously, 33 points. If Rangers win the game, Celtic will win the league by 30 points. But if Windass scores the winner, all will be forgiven for the Rangers fans.
