Raheem Sterling charged with dangerous driving after M3 Lamborghini crash

His May crash has come back to haunt him

The 31-year-old was arrested on 28 May after his Lamborghini was involved in a single-vehicle collision on the southbound M3 near the Minley Interchange. No other vehicles were involved and there were no reported injuries.

Sterling now faces three separate charges: dangerous driving, possession of nitrous oxide for wrongful inhalation and failing to provide a specimen. He is due before Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on 15 September.

For now, the case will be decided in court, with Sterling yet to face a verdict on any of the charges.

Sterling’s career has been in an uncertain place for some time. After being pushed out of Chelsea’s first-team plans, he ended his contract with the club in January and moved to Feyenoord, where he reunited with former Premier League striker Robin van Persie.

The move did little to revive his fortunes, however, with Sterling making just eight appearances in the Netherlands without scoring or providing an assist.

He is now back on the hunt for his next club, having spent the summer without a team while continuing to work with young players at his RS7 Academy.

His next move remains unclear, with his 15 September court appearance now falling in the middle of that search.
