Rafael dos Anjos reacts with faux confusion to news of Conor McGregor’s premature retirement

"Can someone explain?"

There’s one super-fight that we’re never going to see, anyway.

UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos didn’t take long to respond to the rumours that ‘The Notorious’ had unexpectedly opted to hang up his gloves at the tender age of 27.

McGregor rocked the MMA world when he took to Twitter on Tuesday night to claim that he had decided to retire early and SBG head coach John Kavanagh soon added fuel to the fire by suggesting that the decision was the real deal.

McGregor was slated to fight Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 196 but the Brazilian was forced out of the March headliner with a broken foot.

Many expected them to be matched up at UFC 200 this summer but the promotion went in a different direction, allowing McGregor the chance to avenge his loss against Diaz and pairing dos Anjos up with top lightweight Eddie Alvarez.

Dos Anjos responded to the news by suggesting a hypocrisy from the Irishman.
