PSG targeting competent sporting director after another European humiliation

Maybe they will actually have some success in Europe

Paris Saint-Germain are looking to try and finally find some success on the European front by attempting to appoint outgoing Liverpool director, Michael Edwards.

Following the French side’s Champions League defeat to Real Madrid, an inquest has been sparked into the success at the Parc Des Princes.

The club’s Qatari owners are desperate to win a first Champions League title and believe that a revamp in some areas of their operations may be the catalyst to achieve their ambitions.

PSG’s overhaul is expected to confirm the departures of both manager Mauricio Pochettino and current sporting director Leonardo, with the latter reportedly falling out with the club’s hierarchy.

Edwards is currently Liverpool’s technical director, where has worked since 2011. However, he recently announced that he would be leaving the club in November, although he didn’t confirm where his next move would be, as reported by The Telegraph.

The director has been influential in a number of key signings for Jurgen Klopp’s side, including the January acquisition of Luis Diaz from FC Porto, who has hit the ground running at Anfield.

However, Edwards isn’t the only candidate under consideration as PSG look to consider all of their options in order to find the best appointment.

One of those is Atletico Madrid’s Andrea Berta as well as Giovanni Rossi of Sassuolo. Former Newcastle United midfielder Hugo Viana, who is currently at Sporting CP, is another one of those linked with the job.
