Neymar was taken off on a stretcher
Paris Saint-Germain have received “reassuring” news from a preliminary round of tests on Neymar’s ankle injury sustained during their loss to Lyon on Sunday night.
PSG’s star man was taken off on a stretcher in the final minute of injury time after falling awkwardly on his left ankle. The referee sent off Lyon midfielder Thiago Mendes for the tackle after reviewing the incident on the pitchside monitor.

PSG issued a statement on Monday afternoon, saying: “The medical examinations carried out on Neymar Jr are reassuring following his twisted ankle in Sunday’s game against Lyon. Further examinations will be carried out in 48 hours.”
After concerns spread that Neymar might have broken his ankle, this will come as a relief to the club, who will need him fit for their round of 16 Champions League tie against Barcelona, whom they paid €222m for Neymar’s services.
The true extent of the injury is not yet known but the club will release more information in the coming days.
PSG were drawn against Barcelona in Monday’s Champions League draw, which also saw Liverpool drawn against RB Leipzig, and Real Madrid come up against Borussia Monchendladbach.
