PSG fans leave anti-Paul Pogba banner outside training base

Some PSG fans are openly against the idea of Pogba joining the club this summer

We should know better by now. Just as it seems Paul Pogba might finally be on the cusp of leaving Manchester United, along comes something to make us think he might not.

Having rejected a contract extension at Old Trafford, Pogba, now in the final year of his contract, looks extremely likely to be departing Manchester for a second time this summer.

Long-term admirers Real Madrid and old club Juventus don’t appear to be in a position to buy (or want to buy) him, clearing the way for Paris Saint-Germain to take him back to his homeland.

PSG are said to be keen to land the midfielder in time for the new season, and United seem willing to get a bit of money for him now than let him leave for nothing in a year’s time.

While it probably won’t be enough to completely derail the dethroned French champions’ move for the 28-year-old, it seems not everyone who holds PSG close to their heart is all that fussed about his potential arrival.

In fact, judging by the banners hung outside the club’s stadium and training complex, there are some who are openly against it.

“Pogba you should listen to your mother,” the banners read. “She doesn’t want you here. Neither do we!”

#WelcomePogba indeed.

As for United, they have finally clinched the signing of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund and continue the pursuit of Pogba’s international teammate, Raphael Varane.

The defender reported at Real Madrid’s training ground on Friday but left without taking part in any training session with his teammates. He is believed to have verbally agreed personal terms with United, who are now attempted to talk Madrid down regarding their asking price.
