Former Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso has been added to a 'three-man' shortlist by one of the Premier League's biggest clubs, according to The Telegraph.
Alonso has been out of work since early January, when he was sacked by Los Blancos, hours after a Super Cup defeat at the hands of bitter rivals Barcelona.
Although ultimately unsuccessful in Spain, Alonso is still one of the most highly sought-after coaches in world football, having made a name for himself by winning the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen in 2024, becoming the first coach to beat Bayern to a German league title in over a decade.
Despite his Real Madrid disappointment, it appears as though Alonso's reputation is still intact, following today's news he has been named as a key candidate for one of the biggest jobs in world football.

Per The Telegraph, Man City have drawn up a three-man shortlist to replace Pep Guardiola, should he depart at the end of the season, and Alonso is one of the names being considered.
Alongside the Spaniard, Enzo Maresca and former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas would likely be considered.
Ex-Chelsea manager Maresca was said to have held talks with the Citizens before departing Stamford Bridge in January.
Fabregas has impressed as manager of FC Como in Italy, his side are currently 6th in Serie A and have earned major plaudits for playing attractive attacking football.
Alonso's appointment at the Etihad would depend first on the timing of Guardiola's departure — as it is still possible for the 55-year-old to stay beyond the end of the summer — and, on who of the three candidates are preferred by the Man City hierarchy.
This dynamic situation is set to develop further over the coming months.
