Premier League fixtures ‘leaked’, showing Tottenham vs Norwich as season opener

We won’t have to wait long to see if this is legit…

It may feel like the football season has only just come to an end, but this week sees the Premier League publish its list of fixtures for the 2019/20 campaign.

All 380 games in the English top flight will be announced at 9am on Thursday, June 13.

Some, however, are already out in the open… at least, that’s if you believe what’s being circulated on Twitter.

Numerous accounts have shared a picture claiming to show a leaked set of fixtures for the opening weekend. On it, we see that the first game will take place between Tottenham Hotspur and newly-promoted Norwich City. Assuming the information is correct, this will kick off at 12:30 on Saturday, August 10 and is to be televised by Sky Sports.

The picture also suggests BT Sport will televise the same day’s late kick-off, which sees European champions and last season’s runners-up Liverpool travel to Turf Moor to take on Burnley.

Aston Villa, having secured promotion back to the top flight via the Play-Offs, host Leicester City in the first of Sky’s Super Sunday fixtures of the new season. This is then followed by Brighton’s visit to Old Trafford to face Manchester United.

Champions Manchester City begin their defence away at Wolverhampton Wanderers in the first Monday Night Football of 2019/2020.

The other fixtures – all to be played at 3pm on Saturday, August 10 – are:

Bournemouth vs Sheffield United

Crystal Palace vs Arsenal

Everton vs Newcastle United

Southampton vs Chelsea

Watford vs West Ham

It could prove to be inaccurate, but at least football fans won’t have too long to wait to find out.

Supporters of Championship, League One and League Two clubs will learn their clubs’ fixtures on Thursday, June 20. Scottish league fixtures will be announced the day after.
