Premier League confirm that talks are underway to introduce a winter break

It is something that a string of England managers have begged and pleaded and sometimes demanded for years - a winter break.

The Premier League is one of the most physically demanding leagues in the world and yet it is one of the few major domestic calendars without a mid-season hiatus. The Premier League boss told Sky Sports that Big Sam is a big fan of implementing a winter break, and that he is currently in talks with the Football Association and the Football League about making it happen - although any agreement would need to be "roadtested" with supporters' groups and clubs.
