Piers Morgan slams Man City star as ‘nasty piece of work’

‘Pipe down you nasty piece of work’

Piers Morgan has labelled Premier League star Erling Haaland a “nasty piece of work” for his behaviour during Manchester City’s match with Arsenal on Sunday.

A last-minute John Stones goal rescued a 2-2 draw for City against the 10-men of Arsenal in a match that saw tensions between the two sides boil over on several occasions.

In particular, it was Haaland who caused controversy in the final minutes. First, he picked the ball out of the net following Stones’ goal and threw it at Arsenal defender Gabriel’s head.

He then clattered into Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey straight from the restart, sparking anger from the rest of the Gunners side, who rushed in to confront the Norwegian.

One of these players was 17-year-old Myles Lewis-Skelly, who Haaland appeared to dismiss by shouting “who the f*** are you” at him.

The angry scenes carried on after the final whistle, when Haaland had some choice words for Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta and striker Gabriel Jesus.

The striker told Arteta to “stay humble” and called Jesus a “f****ng clown.”

Unsurprisingly, all of this didn’t sit too well with loud-mouth Arsenal fan Piers Morgan, who responded to the footage in a post on X.

He wrote: “Humility lectures from the most arrogant player in the League who nastily belittled 17yr-old Lewis-Skelly, and cowardly hurled a ball at the back of Gabriel’s head.. pipe down @ErlingHaaland you nasty piece of work.”

The 2-2 draw kept Man City at the top of the table, with Arsenal in fourth, two points behind them.

However, the Manchester side may have suffered a devastating blow to their season in the aftermath of the game, with the news that star man Rodri looks set to be out for the season with an ACL injury he suffered in the match.
