Philippe Coutinho humbles Uruguayan midfielder twice in as many seconds

Destroyed

Egidio Arevalo will never forget the day he crossed paths with Philippe Coutinho.

It’s amazing that the Uruguayan midfielder was not immediately substituted after his soul was stolen by his Brazilian counterpart during a World Cup Qualifier on Thursday night.

Brazil ran out 4-1 winners, with former Spurs flop Paulinho scoring an unlikely hat-trick and Neymar rounding out the rout.

And while he didn’t get on the scoresheet, Liverpool’s Coutinho enjoyed his evening in Montevideo as he had the run of the centre of the park.

Coutinho’s quick feet were on display at Arevalo’s expense as he was done via a lightning fast nutmeg before, just two seconds later, he was forced to foul Coutinho after a stunning piece of skill.

And while Reds fans will see this and salivate at the prospect of having their star man in such form as the business end of the season approaches, they will not welcome the comments of Neymar, who continues to try to lure Coutinho away from Merseyside.

“A Premier League player that I would like to have in Barcelona is Coutinho,” Neymar told the Daily Mail.

“I believe Philippe Coutinho is a player that would totally fit in Barcelona.”
