Phil Neville to take temporary charge of Valencia after coach quits…

Tom Victor

Phil Neville won’t have been many people’s tip for the next member of Man United’s Class of 92 to take a managerial role.

However, the youngest member of the club’s golden generation has taken the leap into management, taking the hotseat at Valencia (on a temporary basis at first) following the resignation of Nuno Espirito Santo.

He could lead the team out against Barcelona, if Valencia haven’t appointed a permanent successor to Espirito Santo by the weekend.

Former team-mate Ryan Giggs briefly held the manager’s position at Old Trafford on a temporary basis following the dismissal of David Moyes, and it appears that Neville will be given a similar role at the Spanish club.

According to Marca, he is set to share caretaker duties with Salvador Voro Gonzalez.

The 38-year-old took over as assistant manager at the start of the season, and will take the reins with the club sitting 9th in La Liga.
