Despite reportedly being close to a new contract at Goodison Park, the Premier League top-scorer is yet to pen his new deal with the Merseyside club. This, coupled with the fact that he’s made it perfectly clear in the not-too-distant past that he’d like to play Champions League football guarantee that his name will be in the gossip columns.

Lukaku was reacting to the Manchester City vs Monaco game on Tuesday evening, in which he English club came out on top 5-3. Although on the surface, this is just Lukaku praising the continent’s premier cup competition, to many it was his way of reiterating that he’d like to be playing in it. Soon.

With Everton currently seventh in the Premier League, few are expecting them to finish the season in the top four, meaning Lukaku will have to seek out pastures new if he yearns to be a Champions League player in 2017/18.
