Fabre-who?
Football is a sport full of names that some people - usually Paul Merson - find difficult to pronounce. Mkhitaryan, Aubameyang, Milivojević. The Premier League is full of them. But usually, once you've broken up the syllables and pieced them back together, they're easy.
Cesc Fàbregas, though, is not usually a name people have trouble with. Three syllables, all very easy on the tongue. Fa-bre-gas. We all mastered it about 14 years ago when he broke through at Arsenal. All of us other than BT Sport co-commentator Clive Allen, who caught people's attention with his strange pronunciation of his name during Chelsea vs BATE Borisov.
Every time Fabregas got the ball during the Europa League group stage game, Allen would discuss 'Fabregarse's difficult start to the season.
Safe to say people enjoyed it.
