Paul Pogba is perfect for MLS, claims Wayne Rooney
The former United striker also reckons Marcus Rashford would be "great" for the American league
Real Madrid were described as a "dream" club by Paul Pogba recently, but one of the Manchester United midfielder's former teammates has a better idea for where he could go next.
Wayne Rooney is currently playing out the twilight of his career with MLS outfit DC United, a league seen by some as exclusively for footballers who are less talented (Bradley Wright-Phillips), past it (Shaun Wright-Phillips), or simply with a famous name (Bradley Wright-Phillips, again).
Nevertheless, Pogba's love of a trip to the States and his brother's presence in the league are two reasons why Rooney sees him really enjoying a spell across the pond.
“There are lots of players who could come over and could be very successful here," the ex-England striker told Sky Sports.
“Obviously players I have played with – Paul Pogba, Marcus Rashford – players like that are great players.
“I know Paul Pogba loves coming to the States. His brother is here, so I’m sure he’d be a great signing for anyone.”
After a turbulent period under Jose Mourinho, Pogba has found his feet under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and is finally turning into the player United dreamt he would become when re-signing him from Juventus.
The Frenchman scored four goals and assisted a further three in the new manager's first three games in charge but has struggled to continue that form in recent weeks, on a run of five matches without finding the net.
