Paul Pogba does not have a pay parity clause in his Manchester United contract

The midfielder had demanded it upon his return to Old Trafford

Paul Pogba is no longer the best-paid player at Manchester United.

Alexis Sanchez overtook the Frenchman when he arrived last week in a swap deal which saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan move to Arsenal.

United were able to beat out competition from Manchester City and Chelsea by offering the best wage packed to Sanchez, believed to be between £300,000 and £350,000 per week.

Pogba is said to take home around £290,000 a week, which made him the highest earner at Old Trafford when he returned from Juventus last summer, but he’d reportedly demanded to see his wages boosted to match Sanchez’s once the Chile international’s move was confirmed.

But, unfortunately for Pogba, the Red Devils are not obliged to raise his weekly wage because the club rejected the demands of Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola to include a pay parity clause in his deal.

“The club were smart enough not to agree to the pay parity clause,” a source told the Sun.

“Mino tried his luck when Pogba came back here to make sure he was always the highest earner at the club.

“The club held their nerve and refused the request, fearing the wage bill could get out-of-hand if others came in.

“He is already looking to get his client’s terms increased to go alongside Sanchez.”

An interesting power struggle lies ahead…
