Patrice Evra still loves this game despite Marseille sacking

Retirement isn't an option

Nothing will get Patrice Evra down.

Evra was sacked by Marseille last week for kicking out at a fan ahead of a Europa League game at the beginning of the month and Uefa hit him with a seven-month ban, meaning he won’t be eligible to play for a new side until next June.

The 36-year-old took umbrage with some heckling supporters at the Estadio D. Afonso Henriques as the Marseille players warmed up for their game against Vitoria and let fly with a roundhouse kick in one fan’s direction.

Several clubs have already been in contact with Evra’s representatives, who insist that the player will not hang up his boots.

“Obviously he’s not feeling great at the moment but his career will not end here, he doesn’t want to leave the game in this way,” Evra’s agent Federico Pastorello said, via the Sun.

“He is physically stronger than he was five or six years ago and plenty of people have already been in touch with us.

“Patrice won’t be going back to Serie A after so many years at Juventus but we’re not ruling anything out, even Napoli, but that would be difficult I think.”

And, as he does on every Monday morning, Evra took to Instagram to deliver a message of typical optimism and energy to his followers.

He really does love this bloody game.
