Emergency crews rush to scene as RAF jet crashes in Wales

Two pilots are being treated for minor injuries

Two pilots are being treated for what have been described as "minor injuries" by police.

The incident happened in north Wales in the Pencarnisiog area of Anglesey shortly after the Hawk T2 training jet took off from RAF Valley.

Video footage has been circulating online of the moment the jet crashed after takeoff, with The Telegraph reporting that both pilots ejected from the aircraft.

FlightRadar showed that an air ambulance has been deployed to the scene.

North Wales Police said: "Two pilots are being treated for what are thought to be minor injuries and at this stage there are no reports of any wider damage or injuries."

The force added: "Local officers are currently in attendance to reports of an incident involving an aircraft in the Pencarnisiog area of Anglesey, alongside colleagues from North Wales Fire and Rescue Services, Welsh Ambulance Service University Health Trust and Helimed."

RAF Valley is the home of No. 4 Flying Training School, where the UK’s fighter pilots learn to operate the jets.
