Paris Saint-Germain full-back Achraf Hakimi is reportedly being investigated over an alleged rape.
French prosecutors are said to have launched an investigation into the full-back on Monday, a source close to the case has said, MailOnline reports.
A 24-year-old woman is said to have accused the Moroccan international of raping her at his home in a Paris suburb on February 25.
The Mail reported that, according to the source, the woman reported the incident at a police station on Sunday but did not file charges.
The Sun reported that the alleged victim was 23-years-old, and that she not wish to file a complaint.
According to the publication, she told officers she only wanted to “make a statement of rape”, but prosecutors decided to pursue the matter due to the seriousness of the allegations.
According to Le Parisien, the 24-year-old defender began talking to the woman on January 16 on Instagram.
He then allegedly invited her to his home in Boulogne on Saturday and ordered her an Uber to transport her.
The woman reportedly told police she managed to free herself after kicking Hakimi with her foot, before texting a friend to pick her up.
Hakimi’s wife – actress Hiba Abouk – is currently holidaying in Dubai with their young two sons, The Sun noted.
Hakimi has not responded to the allegations.
The public prosecutor’s office handling the case in Nanterre declined to comment to the Mail, but did, however, complained that “information already made public” in the media “undermined the necessary investigations to find out the truth”.
Hakimi, who was born in Madrid, was part of the Morocco team that finished fourth in the World Cup in Qatar.
His penalty secured a 3-0 shoot-out win over Spain to steer Morocco into uncharted territory, with the north African side going on to become the first from the Arab world to reach the last four at a World Cup.
