There’s one fight waiting for Conor McGregor that he felt the need to mention specifically

Conor McGregor will have an endless amount of options for his next challenge after Floyd Mayweather.

If Conor McGregor wants to go down the title defence route, there's an interim lightweight championship being contested between Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee at UFC 216 in October. The soon-to-be-crowned interim 155 lb champion will undoubtedly be eyeing up a red panty night against 'the Notorious'. Should he want to stay in the ring, plenty of folks would be willing to part with their hard-earned cash to see him settle his beef with former world champion Paulie Malignaggi in a sanctioned bout. McGregor also alluded to some sort of bonkers-sounding hybrid sports promotion taking elements from both MMA and boxing. However, the only one he mentioned specifically while talking to media in Las Vegas, is the one that will likely garner the most attention (aside from the do-over against Mayweather).

“Things always form. Fighters come and rise and create hype. We’ll see.There’s many options. I have a trilogy fight in waiting also, which would be a big fight.”

Remember that chap from Stockton who used to fight in the UFC? No... the younger one. That's right, it appears as though McGregor hasn't forgotten about completing that trilogy against the only man to ever beat him inside the UFC's Octagon, Nate Diaz. Diaz hasn't been seen inside the Octagon since August 20, 2016, when he was edged to a majority decision by McGregor in UFC 202's main event. That card still holds the record for most PPV buys in the promotion's history (1.6 million).
