Former One Direction star Liam Payne has teased one of the most surprising fights of all time with British boxer Tommy Fury.
Payne, who is currently working as a solo artist following the break-up of the hugely successful boyband in 2016, posted a promotional poster to his Instagram, tagging Fury in the upload.
On the poster, it says that the mystery event will take place at Old Trafford “this summer”, with no other information revealed at this point.
It comes as a surprise to many, with Fury recently coming off the back of his split decision win against Jake Paul in February while Payne has never boxed before.
Others believed it may be in relation to the popular charity event Soccer Aid – which returns to Old Trafford after being held at the London Stadium last year – however some pointed out that both would likely be on the same team given that they are both English.
Payne also captained England during Soccer Aid in 2022.
The former Love Island star beat Paul in Saudi Arabia in February after their two previous attempts to meet in the ring were called off.
Extending his unbeaten record to nine, the 23-year-old was victorious, but in a split decision. One judge scored the bout at the Diriyah Arena, in Diriyah, 75-74 in favour of Jake, with the other two scoring it 76-73 to Tommy.
