Nwankwo Kanu reacts to Hal Robson-Kanu’s Euro 2016 genius

Talented namesake

The former Arsenal and Nigeria forward appreciated the Welshman’s sublime piece of trickery.

For a big, gangly, striker, Nwankwo Kanu had a great touch and no shortage of skill.

Just when defenders thought they had him corralled, he would nudge the ball through their legs or flick it on by.

So, when Hal Robson-Kanu pulled off a ‘Cruyff Turn’ in the Belgian box before slotting the ball home, there were immediate comparisons with his namesake.

Nwankwo was watching the Euro 2016 quarter-final, which Wales won 3-1, and offered his take on the goal.

As for Robson-Kanu himself, he is now officially a free agent after finishing up his Reading contract on July 1.

He certainly picked a prime time moment to announce his availability to a watching world.

Premier League sides may have something to say about his next destination. Not bad for a player who found the net for just the fourth time in 34 international appearances.
